This is Mario...a female Magellanic penguin that we met on our "Behind the Scenes" tour at Seaworld. We learned that both female and male anatomy look identical. A DNA test can be performed when the penguin is around 2 months old to determine the sex of the penguin. Because of the need to bond with their trainers, they are named at birth which means a lot of boy penguins have girl names and vice versa. Mario was adorable! Watch this little video clip.
