On Wednesday night, Rob and I went for a walk on the beach. No sooner had we started walking did we find mama turtle tracks coming from the water. We headed for the dunes only to see a 4 foot by 3 foot mama Loggerhead Turtle getting ready to make her nest. Rob hurried back to wake the kids up and get my mother in law. We all got to witness this most exciting event...one that we had been told at "Turtle Talk" is very rare. No flash photography was aloud on Wed. night but these next set of pictures are from Thursday morning when the turtle patrol located her nest and extracted 140 eggs. They needed to relocate the nest because the sand quality was poor where she laid the eggs and the babies would not have been able to dig out. This nest made number 29 on the island. Evan and Anna got to take part in this whole process and loved every minute of it. TRULY AMAZING!!!!
